Even if he hasn't, being the community manager does not necessarily require intimate knowledge of the game the community is related to. Whichever the case here, he's doing a great job; he's active and friendly, and very helpful as he lets us know about confirmations regarding bugs and what not.

Or, even worse we could be stuck with Silverman from BioWare

Heh...thats true. But I find it a bit odd he hasn't finished them. I suppose it isn't required.

I assume one would be sick of the game if they spent 5+ years working on it.

If he's community manger, he should probably have thorough knowledge of the game. After all, the community does.
