I'm new to these forums, so hopefully I've posted this in the right place.

I just finished the prologue and there has been one little thing that has bugged me a lot! And that is how on earth did Geralt get his silver sword back at the start of the 1st chapter? I read the journal entry and it simply said that a dwarven smith in Flotsam made the sword for me. How did Geralt even receive this weapon if he had not even left the boat yet?

Whilst I'm here I might as well ask 2 things. Firstly, is there a way to toggle in and out of stealth mode? And secondly at the beginning of the first chapter it said that I had learned a new ability called "cover" how would I go about using this ability?

You got the silver sword because you ave imported a W1 save. If you hadn't imported it you'd have to craft one.

No, there's no way you can toggle stealth mode and those skills are passive, you don't have to do anything to use them.

Ah, thanks for the quick reply. Hrmmm that seems a little silly to do that, wrecks the immersion just that tiny little bit.

You imported a save. That's how you got your sword back. I guess they decided they didn't want to hear any uproar from the self-entitled generation if their +8 sword of awesomeness was removed in the first few minutes of gameplay.

You can always get the real experience by not importing.

No, there's no active toggling of "stealth" mode.

Open your character window and look at your attributes and then read the description for your skills, which would include Cover.

Where do you find the silver that you need to craft the new silver sword? I have every thing but that.

If I remember correctly, I think you can buy some silver ore from the Dwarven Smith himself. Try meditating 24hours for his inventory to reset if you don't see it first off in Trade. Off the top of my head, I remember some silver ore in a certain cave just outside of Flotsam, but it's filled with the sorts of things you want a Silver Sword to kill. Safest bet is probably the Smith... it'll cost, but it'll be an investment.

there are two caves in Act I, i'm assuming you're still playing that chapter. In those caves, move slowly and check the corners. also there should be two silver ores in bandit island.

I started a playthrough without importing a savegame. Now I dont have a silver sword at the start of act 1.

Major ROFL on the children of Flotsam though: "Why does he have 2 swords ..." ... guess they didn't learn counting yet.

Thanks I bought the silver I needed to get the silver sword. Now when I have to fight monsters I will have a better chance of surviving.
