So, i finished Witcher I while back, amazing game and story. Bought new laptop and fired up Witcher II, was hugely disappointed at start, but now in Flotsam i'm starting to dig it.

I wanted to have some discussion about choosing skills, since it seems it's quite different from first Witcher, it seems now i really need to decide what route to take. Correct me if i'm wrong. I love alchemy, and gladly i noticed you can pimp your armor as well.

What kind of paths have you taken? I red that Alchemy takes a lot of points, i probably want to pick two areas where to pick points, but choosing seems hard.

And lets keep those negative, "alchemy is bs in W2" comments away :) I think we all play how we like, even it means hard time in the game once in a while.

I also just finished witcher 1, and started witcher 2. The skill tree and well the general changes really threw me off. In the 1st game you can pretty much almost invest in everything, where in the 2nd it seems like 1 or maybe 2 skill trees. Im going swords and alchemy, I also enjoy playing my way and dont really enjoy where games give you "build freedom" but only 1 or 2 builds are actually viable.
I haven't played W1 but I have played W2 twice now. I found that investing heavily in swords was best suited to my play style, and investing secondarily into magic complemented it best. I hadn't planned on using magic that much but once I was repeatedly beaten down by a group of nekkers I became rather fond of quen! I personally didn't feel it was worth it to invest in alchemy above enhancing bomb and trap damage but next time I will try it. You could invest decently into two trees, or heavily in one and lightly in two, and yes alchemy does eat up a lot of talent points.
