Just downloaded The Witcher 2 Enhanced Edition using the GOG downloader and installed from the The_Witcher_2 folder. When trying to launch the game, I get the splash screen with the options, one of which is Launch Game. However, when I click on that, I get this error message:

"R6031

- Attempt to initialize the CRT more than once. This indicates a bug in your application."

Clicking OK from here dumps me back to desktop.

Any help would be appreciated.

And this will work even if I'm only getting the error for the Witcher game and nothing else?

i think so because if you look up your problem on google and add 'the withcer 2' in the search, then you don't find any relevant results. So I don't think it's a problem related to your desktop. You can always give a try :)

Try a couple of steps.

Open as Admin

Open Task Manager, Ctrl+Alt+Delete and close any unnecessary programs, you be surprised.
And close any other programs like internet explorer, downloads etc...
