pacinpm: Am I really that old to remember a lot of very good games released without DRM?

Yakkuz: Lot of Triple A games sold at day one without drm? I don't remember, howewer you know that the "normality" in the last years is DRM, DRM and more DRM (Ubisoft for example...)
If I remember corectly Quake (at least first two), Unreal and Unreal Tournament, Duke Nukem 3D, Prince of Persia (first two) had no DRM. Those where big titles back than. And I refuse to accept reality where DRM is normal. I didn't bought Starcraft 2 because of DRM and lack of Spawn mode. I can live with good old games.

But it's not good complaining about DRM WITH GOG (that sold DRM-free games), pretending them to "free" other publishers versions.
Looks like we agree here. GOG can't realease no-DRM crack. What I was saying is that talking about DRM issues in Wiedźmin 2 will help to get rid of DRM in all future games.

There are more, way more titles without DRM than those ...

Yes, there was a time were copyprotection was handled only by cd-check or serial.

kache: I know it seems very strange, but the version getting pirated the most is the Retail one, the one with DRM... XD

ArnoldJ.Rimmer: doesnt say much for the IQ`s of the pie rats...lmao
So you dream witcher too, huh? ;)

I explain it in two ways.
First, the CE was out there a day early and the GoG version half a day after the PE. It's a competition and challenge for the pirates to get the crack out as soon as possible, lest another group releases their version first.
Second: how do you crack a game without DRM? No fame for the releaser, lol.

slophlong: No.
DRM has NOTHING to do with performance, whoever told you is full of shit.
Sorry, but you are proven wrong, and your profanity just makes you look silly.

Refer to the question from ChickDigger802 and the response by Kyozo. The developers are aware that the DRM DOES impact performance, and the upcoming patch may address it but that hasn't been confirmed.
