I have the GoG version and after reinstalling windows and proceeding to install Witcher 2 .. i can't even run the game!

I'm always getting connection error and retrying in 10 minutes. When i click launch the game, it asked me to "Please use launcher to activate the game".

What can i do? Thanks in advance.

Adjust your firewall settings.
Or you might try installing Patch 1.2 right away and see what that does.

for sure, you dont need internet connection to launch the game

Thats what i would do and id be sure to have a web page up while trying just to be sure you are online since you just did a fresh install and windows may not be connecting automatically. (ive seen this happen with windows updates on a friends pc, where you need to be connected b4 trying or it wouldnt auto-connect, it was eventually fixed by correctly setting up his network settings)
Anyway, its worth a shot, but i would patch the game 1st and try that.

I have downloaded patch 1.2 and when installing it shows me an error that the utility patch has stopped working as must be closed.

I have turned off the firewall too and i really have no idea now.

OK, so now it's getting tricky...
Did you install all the latest Microsoft Updates? Service Pack 1 and follow up updates? Latest version of .net-Framework installed?

In fact i just did a fresh installation of Windows 7 x64 without updates yet. Guess gonna give it a try then. Hopefully it works. Thanks Aaden
