One of the best fantasy RPGs was set in a mature universe of an author of a series of books. Raymond Feist's well written Krondor series gave the developers a mature and consistent universe to build a game, and he worked with them to ensure it fit into the series. He even later published a book based on it.

So along comes another developer who bases a game on a series of books and it also is a critically acclaimed success. Once again the author was involved. I wonder if other game studios will notice.
Well, to be fair, I enjoyed the Krondor series as a child (enough to dress as Pug for Halloween-gods I was such a nerd), but I'd hardly call them very good as an adult. ;p And, while I loved the Krondor-based games, at the time, I'd hardly call them masterpieces set in context with today. :)

I'd love to see a studio like CDProjekt take a crack at the Mazatlan series.
