I'm not arguing against your point either :). You made some good points about releasing the game earlier - although some customers would take offense at feeling like a beta tester.
Yes, I've considered the possibility of them being oblivious to some problems because they know the game so damn well and they've been working so long on it they simply missed those issues. They're probably understaffed, because as a rule (well I never worked in the industry, but based on what I learned in my programming classes) it's best to let someone who is completely unfamiliar with a piece of software to run it / do blackbox testing.
