I do not have a clue what version I am on for starters, I have the gog version and downloaded it from here using my browser 2 days ago, I've installled it.

I want to install patch 1.3, from what I can understand, I should either have patch 1.2 installed or nothing installed.

I download the 1.2 >> 1.3 and I get an invalid error. I try to run the patcher it says I'm up to date.

This really has to be the most confusing game to patch I've ever witnessed, and no help what so ever is provided.

Did you download the 1.1 from your shelf ?

It's not that complicated, once you know that the GoG version is a little different from the retail versions (didn't need the DRM removed).

If you have just done a fresh install, the game has automatically applied the day one activation patch. Then you download patch 1.1 from the shelf (like Namur said), then patch 1.2 from and patch 1.2->1.3 from [url=http://www.thewitcher.com/patch1-3/]here. GoG version doesn't work with the 0->1.3 patch (again the DRM free issue). Install them one after the other and you have to close the launcher after every patch, because it pops open every time and makes errors if you let it open.

If you want to verify your patch version go to wherever you installed the game to and open the Witcher2 folder...now you should see several files locate the launcher and hover your mouse over the launcherexe and in the dialog box that appears should be a version ...for the 1.3 patch it should read 0.9.0.780
Now open the bin folder and locate the witcher2exe and do the same procedure as above and the dialog box should read version 1.3.6720.47495

Install the game, then it will install the Day 1 Activation Patch.

It will be v1.0.6041.43456.

Install patch v1.1, bringing your game to v1.1.6157.43917.

Install patch v1.2, bringing your game to v1.2.6276.44681.

Finally, install patch v1.3, bringing your game to v1.3.6720.47945.

Notes: There is a cumulative v1.0->v1.3 patch, but it doesn't seem to work properly, so you'll have to install each patch one at a time.

If you allow the auto update to download the patches, they're located at "\Documents\Witcher 2\Downloads".
