I installed the game (purchased after 1.1 was out) and I noticed it "applying patch" at end of installation. I'm just curious if I need to install 1.1 manually or is it automatic with GOG release?

I think you need to apply it manually for the GOG.com version, but i'm not 100% sure.
You can find it under "Additional Content" in your account section of the GOG website.
