There is a way to improve you luck in rolling. If your re-rolling and you see that the number you need is already on the top of the dice your about to roll, you can gently land them on the surface where your kept dice are and gently land them there. Its not hard and the dice will usually stay in the same position, giving you that number which was on top.

hummm...smart~~i will try that
Aha! So there IS more to dice throwing in The Witcher 2 than just pure luck.
The AI cheats though, that's pretty obvious. I did a test - out of 40 games, they won 31 times. If I threw 4 of a kind, they'd throw a better one. There's some luck, of course, but it's very suspicious the way the AI throws the most unlikely results. I've seen more 5 of a kind, than I ever did! Heck, in Yathzee it's pretty rare and you get three throws - they do it in just two!!

Yeah, I was actually pretty decent at the dice game in Witcher 1, I had more money then I ever needed by playing people until they ran low. In W2 I have to manage to get 3 of a kind on a first to even attempt to win a hand. When I do manage that 3 of a kind the AI manages to get 3 of a kind also but of a higher die marking.. it's kinda BS, it doesn't feel random at all but calculated.

I also noticed that the rolled dice are not always the ones appearing on the top or bottom. That would explain the weird camera angle - to hide the fact that the game cheats.

I'm playing with a 360 controller, I thought maybe I just missed how to adjust the camera angle... makes sense though, can't see it when the AI magically drops the needed dice to beat your 1-5 straight with a 2-6... ugh.

I swear, that's happened to me like 4 times now. I call shenanigans!
