Hi!

I have some trouble implementing crossfirex with Witcher2.

I have 2x 6970 and have 40- 60 fps with all on ultra (no ubersampling) in 1080p. Have checked with MSI Afterburner and the load on the two cards is about 50-60%. Is there anyway to get so that they output 100% with this game?

Have tried launching the game with radeonpro but just get a strange fail message.

Witcher 2 version 2.0

Specs
Intel I5-2500k 4.2GHz
2x 6970 ati CFX
8GB memory

/Thanks

as you said, crossfire is broken, but it's been broken for a while (it worked fine for one catalyst version or two).

The only way i managed to play perfectly like when it used to work fine with cat + caps is using radeon pro using options:

Force Crossfirex Profile - AFR-Friendly D3D
MVPUMode = Alternate Frame Rendering

Make sure you are not using latest catalyst version 11.10preview for BF3 since radeonpro doesnt seem to work for it just yet. I'm still using version 11.8 plus latest CAP.

Using the witcher 2 profile i get for example 30s-low 40s outside the tent in the begining. With the forced profile using radeonpro i once again get the fps that i used to get when catalyst + caps worked fine with crossfire (50-60s at that spot) with nearly 60s all the time during the game (minus some more demanding spots like the vergen canteen)

btw i have 2 5850s

Try it and see if it works for you.

This is good info thanks.

I'm running 11.8 atm also and have radeon pro, but would you mind telling me what CAPS is?

BTW, I have a pair of 6950's.

EDIT: Never mind, I'm dumb - "Catalyst Application Profiles"

Also, something else to try is renaming witcher2.exe to AFR-FriendlyD3D.exe and running it directly - this works for some games, though I haven't tried it yet (still downloading 2.0) so can't confirm.

renaming is good but you can't specify the other part of the solution using renaming (MVPUMode = Alternate Frame Rendering).

As i'm saying there's no problem using radeonpro just checking those two options unless you have the latest beta driver (11.10beta) which does not work with the current radeonpro, or at least someone told me.
Have installed 11.8 again and have created an application for Witcher2 in radeonpro. But everytime I try to start the game with radeonpro I get this fail message. Do any of you know what it means and what to do to fix it?

strange, searching the net it seems the error is not from radeonpro but with the witcher 2 installation.

Make sure that your profile leads to witcher2.exe (inside your installation dir) and not launcher.exe.

If it's still not working, close radeonpro completely so it does not load any profile and execute witcher2.exe directly. If you have an error without using radeonpro it would seem you have a problem with your game installation

Also make sure you ran witcher2.exe as admin

if it's still not working i suggest you deinstall the game and reinstall from scratch as people in other topics suggested
Reinstalled the game and I got it to work with Radeonpro. I followed your instructions but It didnt help. Got the same framerate (50dps) as before.

Is there any other way to try and max out your 2 ATI cards?
This might not help much, but if you right click the CCC icon in the status bar under crossfirex settings you can tell it to display an icon whenever a game uses crossfire (it appears in the upper right corner)
