Zecrodus: I have the same problem with a decent rig and nvidia 460. It really shouldnt perform this badly. Unplayable as al lthe immersion is gone if I even try to play with that slideshow.

wormholewizards: Quit sulking. Turn off the uber sampling option, even one of GoG Team here turn it off because uber sampling is like the option for next generation GPU and CPU.
why should he quit sulking? he has just paid £30 of his money on a game that according to the system requirements should run fine.

Yea yea got it xD

Just had no idea what it is but seems that was the main reason. There maybe should be a little warning text so players know it will affect the performance A LOT.

wait for him to turn off uber sampling and see whether he got improved performance or not. I suggest you read the readme about uber samling, most people turn it off and get decent performance.

They warn it, in readme.txt, But i doubt most people will read the readme before playing.

And wait no more. Tada. :)
posting an update: going into my Control Panel and uninstalling the Nvidia 3D driver fixed my performance issues.

can now run the game on ultra as expected. it's gorgeous. :D

mentaur: I'm having the same issues on my 560Ti. Crysis2 runs perfectly on maximum settings at 1680x1050, but I can't even run this past the jail scene on 1280x800 with everything on minimum. It's a slideshow.

What a disappointment after such a long wait...

k.e.i.n: You can't really compare your performance to Crysis2 because Crysis2's graphics is generally worse that Crysis1's graphics.

If you can MAX Crysis1 and Metro2033 (Both not made to run on console) then you can max Witcher2 (uber-sampling might be disabled).
I don't have uber-sampling on. The performance is identical whether I run the game windowed at 800x600 with EVERYTHING set to low, as it is at 1680x1050 with everything on reasonable. This is just odd. It smells like a driver issue, but even then we should be seeing consistent issues over the nVidia userbase.

I'm not expecting it to run perfectly, but I am expecting more than 10fps, just as all other games seem to manage. I don't blame anyone; I'm just disappointed as I was looking forward to enjoying the game today!

If anyone has some useful suggestions then please go ahead.

I've read in another thread that someone UNINSTALLED the 3d driver of NVIDIA.

To those who are interested, I can report that geforce 9500 GT 1024 MB can run this game using low settings @ 1280x1024 16:9 at very reliable frame rates early in the game. However, it is still too early to say if indeed it can run without hitches until the end.

What fps?

My nvidia 260gtx is suppose to be similar to a desktop 9800GT, just removed the 3d drivers, made no difference what so ever on my system, still getting crap performance.

Gonna try rolling back to older drivers...

Edit; using 266.58, no difference here

Well, it looks like our issues have become a sticky, with the suggestion to remove the 3D vision drivers and/or update to the latest drivers released today. Thanks to GOG for putting that out there and the people here trying to help figure it out. No thanks to the people who told us to just stop whining, disable ultrasampling over and over when we said it wasn't the issue or just said our computers weren't good enough.
