First time posting, so Hello! :)

I'm loving this game but hit a big problem in Loc Muinne when you get to choose between the "For Temeria!" quest and the "Where is Triss Merigold?" quest. I chat with Vernon Roche and I'm torn between the two quests. He says to meet him in front of Kaedweni camp f I choose "For Temeria!"

First I tackle the "Gargoyle Contract" and get some crafting done before I go to the meetup spot with Roche. Only thing is he's nowhere in sight!

So I explore Philipa Eilhart's house and the sewers, where I happen to complete "From A Bygone Age", and beat the piss out of Numa in "Bring it On". Still no sign of Roche. I explore around as much as I can thinking I've misinterpreted the map. Still no sign of Roche. I wait until midnight. And still no sign of Roche.

What am I doing wrong?

Is there really a time limit on how long Roche waits for you at the entrance to the Kaedweni camp? And if so can't you go on without him/after him?

he's underneath the ground, look for a large pit in the main central area that leads downwards.

Never had a problem with finding Roche before, but then again I went for Triss instead of helping him so I didn't saw him after that. Off topic anyone able to beat Numa without the drinking the potion his assistant sells.

Not the first time. But you can call him out on it afterwards. At least, if you meet some other condition I do not recall.

I reloaded the first time I lost to him and just talk to his assistant and bough the potion. However, before drinking it I try arm wrestling 3 times to see how difficult it was to beat him without the potion and the slider was so small even with the gamepad it was almost impossible to beat him. Once I drank the potion it was too easy to beat him, I just wonder if there was some sort of special reward for beating him without drinking the potion. Or if there an achievement for beating him for steam users, I have the GOG version so I can't really check is there is achievement for that.

He is impossible to beat the first time. But you can get him to stop cheating for a rematch.

The only armwrestling achievement is tied to poker and fist fighting and requires just one win of each.

If you use the potion, you lose 50 orens, but if you bet 100 the first time then 200 if you get him to stop cheating, you break even.

Or is there a special reward if you get him to stop haxing?

You don't break even. You gain 100 orens.

You lose 100, you gain 200. The potion route is more profitable, allowing you to lose 50, gain 200, true.

We were both half-right.

Potion route costs you 250 and you win 200. Net loss: 50
Cheater route: lose 100 orens, gain 200. Net gain: 100

The potion costs 250? I thought someone said it cost only 50. Wow.

Oh, wait, nevermind. I forgot the price next to the potions is the cumulative price.

SIGH.

Since the first poster mentioned Philipa Eilhart's house in Chapter 3: where is it - and how would I know it is Philiipa's?

See, I chose the path with Roche in chapter 2, so I was in Henselt's camp, couldn't enter Vergen and so I never met Philipa Eilhart. Plus I thought I fairly thorougly explored Loc Muinne and never saw her there either.

So do you only get to interact with her or enter her house in Loc Muinne if you choose the Vergen path?

It's locked either way since you don't enter it from the market area.

You don't see her in Chapter 3 because she's locked in a jail cell.

How can she be locked in a jail cell when Sile claims that Philipa is controlling the dragon?

Plus, do I learn this part of the story - how or why she is in jail - when I choose the Vergen storyline?
