Hello,

I just bought the retail version of the witcher 2. The problem is my DVD player can't read the disc.

I did some research and apparently the problem is my DVD player itself . I should replace it but for the moment that's not possible.

So my question is: Is it possible to somehow download the content and use the cd-keys (the game plus ultimate magical suit pack) that i paid for?

I spend the last 4 hours searching the net and this forum for any info but so far i got only one piece of advice (from the patch 1.1 info post above)

If nobody here can help me i wil e-mail them but i believe they're already swamped with work because of their server-problems. (and it's not really a DVD problem, its a DVD reader problem :s)

I would really appreciate any help or advice anybody could give me. The game guide/user manual/etc. are laughing at me and it's depressing me.

Zijt ge zeker dat uwen dvd-drive niet werkt? Hebt ge de installatie cd's is gecontroleerd op een andere pc bijvoorbeeld?

Ik denk niet dat ge zomaar de GOG versie kunt downloaden , ook al hebt ge de retail versie gekocht (ik heb trouwens ook retail versie, werkt flawless). Als het probleem echt aan uw dvd drive ligt, en niet aan de dvd's zelf, kan je kiezen uit 2 opties.

1. Zo snel mogelijk dvd drive vervamgen
2. Download een "pirated" versie van de GOG versie met de dlc erbij, aangezien ge voor de retail versie hebt betaalt mag je dit feitelijk wel doen als je je gekocht spel niet kan spelen.


Ik zou toch voor optie 1 gaan, en zo snel mogelijk dvd drive vervangen, ik heb ook zelf een pirated edition van witcher 2 op men externe staan, voor moest er iets gebeuren met mijn gekochte retail versie.

Neem zoeizo contact met de witcher helpdesk, ik denk dat zij u iets beter zullen kunnen helpen.

Het probleem ligt aan de Dvd speler en ik ben niet de enige met dit probleem (1). Hij zou idd moeten vervangen worden maar ik kan momenteel de pc niet missen voor enkele dagen (ik blijf zelf van hardware af. Deze pc is te duur om perongeluk te vernielen).

De reden waarom ik (nog) niet voor de pirated versie ga is omdat deze teveel uitvoerbare programma's bevatten die ik niet vertrouw. Maar bon, nood breekt wet.

Als ik tegen morgen geen verdere reacties hier heb ontvangen zal ik de helpdesk contacteren.

En owja, de installatie dvd's zelf zullen wss wel werken. Ik zal deze dit weekend op een andere pc uittesten als de helpdesk onderbemand is. En dan de installatie via mijn externe overzetten op mijn pc. Wel veel werk eigenlijk. Mss word het gewoon tijd om volledig te stoppen met fysieke dragers en alles via het net te te kopen.

I read in another thread here a few days ago about the DRM issue with certain drives and if I remember correctly they had another drive on a very old comp witch had a cd drive that wasn't affected by the DRM and were able to copy the game to that hard drive and transfer the files to their new machine!! Don't know if that helps but see if you can search this forum about install problems..good luck

Thx for the response, i did search this forum about installation problems and installing the game at another PC and then copying the files through my external HD is plan C.

Plan B is hoping the helpdesk can help me. I will e-mail the'm tommorow.

I was just hoping for something less time-expensive.
