hi guys,
I had a problem with the part where you defend vergen and have to activate a lever to kill the enemies with boiling oil. On my first playthrough this worked fine but when i installed the enhanced edition patch that lever turned into the walls so that i couldnt reach it. Then i completely removed the game from my pc and downloaded a fresh copy from gog.com. but this problem still persists.
i have attached a screenshot. has enyone else experienced this or knows what to do?
damn: just noticed the thread about this.... sorry

This happened to me too. It's some weird glitch related to saved games from the earlier version not properly working in the Enhanced Edition. What I did was I saved backups of my old save games, uninstalled Witcher 2 EE entirely, reinstalled the older version, pulled the lever at Vergen and saved my game (and made backup saves), then installed the Enhanced Edition and moved forward with the game. A lot of people that updated from the old edition before reaching the hot oil section of Vergen had this same glitch.

If you don't have the old version to re-install to, search around on the Witcher 2 forums. Someone from CD Projekt posted something you could download to revert to the older edition. I installed from an old backup copy.

I wish there was a better fix, because this is rather time consuming and annoying, but if you just do it and get it over with it's faster than searching endlessly online for solutions that don't exist or waiting for a patch that doesn't seem to be coming. The only other option I know of is to start a fresh game in EE and it won't have this problem.

Good luck!

... Or, you could just do exactly what Voodoo said to do originally, and grab the latest patch. Sure seems a whole lot easier than all that you went through...

ETA - Besides, there are enough differences in the EE game to warrant starting it again from the beginning. I have found many changes to the dialogs and explanations in game that explain the story better than it did before.

Yeah, 3.1 from the official webpage for instance.

Yes, that is what I was referring to. If you'd kindly read the OP's edit he already found the appropriate thread and patch. Have a nice day.
