The game looks simply ...bad. Very bad. Outwashed, blurry textures. Have tried pretty much everything. So damm annoing. Everything updated, gtx 570.. just suks.
Maybe I should try another driver ?

Belive it or not..this is on ULTRA... AS you can see every texture ouside 2 min radius of geralt is "blurred/outwashed/low ress"... or am I simply having to high expectations...

Well, Curse you RED! Im gonna finish this game anyways...

You should force Anisotropic filtering in the nvidia control panel for this game.
That will work on some textures at least. Wall textures are very much improved with this.

But indeed, there are some textures that can't be filtered like that it seems. This is especially visible on ground textures. Most notably later in the game in Vergen. The floor of the dwarven city is really crappy.
It's very unfortunate, because the rest looks awesome the minor flaws are so visible.

I don't know if there is a solution....

I so agree with you :) Its just so sad, its such a good looking game, these small faults ruin so much. Dont forget the "grainy shadows" :)

Even so, I bought this game twice! And Im still playing it. Used alot of time to solve this issues, but didnt manange ... For me it is very strange that a company makes their paying customers to fix their games for them... These stuff should have been patched or something..

There is a reason for this and also a solution:
It´s very simple:
Witcher II uses ParralaxOcclusionMapping for the ground textures without using Direct X 11!
This causes massive blur!

The only way to solve this is using SuperSampling which sharpens the whole image and so will cause a reduction of the POM-Issure!
In Witcher II SuperSampling (2x2OGSSAA) is called Übersampling (in German) or Ubersampling (in english)!

Yeah, the same happens in Crysis (1), but someone made a shader for DX10 that has AF for POM which is great looking indeed.

Won't happen for the Witcher 2 though, as there's no DX10/11 support.

What's lame, is that I really can't notice any texture improvement over regular textures. Why did they opted to use POM, when a better result could be had by means of a regular texture with a nice bumpmap?

edit: Just tried with ubersampling. Now I now what it's good for. Not for the barely noticable better AA, but hiding the lack of AF. It looks fantastic, but at around 20-30fps it's barely playable.

Other DX9-Titles got this problem too!
Look at this article about Two Worlds II (at this time it was stil DX9):

Or, if you don´t understand german just this to screens:

Indeed, the same problem. But at least Two Worlds came with a dx10/11 renderpath. You also had the possibility of disabling POM and using AF.

Then again, the graphics of Two Worlds 2 really needed POM with AF to look any good. Imho Two Worlds 2 looks much worse than the Witcher 2, but that's more because of the world, character and animation design than the technical aspect.
