Hi all, I'm trying to back up this game onto DVD-DL (2) but every time I try the first disc, I get a message that it wants the location of setup_the_witcher2_ee_3.4.0.25-11.bin.

I don't want to have to burn this particular file on this disk AND on the second. Anybody have any suggestions?

Also, I've tried multiple Google searches on this topic in general and I want to mention up front, yes I do have this game on my hard drive, but I want to have, not a physical copy (as that would be) but a "physical media" that I can use for very long term. Kind of like how you know you have had multiple hard drives since the late 90's to early 2000's But you can't help but go back to good old Half Life, you just so happen to have the CD and can install it on a whim.

This is what I want to be able to do with TW2. I know digital media is the future, but truth be told we don't know for a fact if GOG and Steam will be in existence 10 years from now (knock on wood).

So there is my reasoning. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

:)
the files need to exist all in one go. i.e. copy all data to the hdd. it's not one of them installers that say "please insert disc 2". it's all or nothing. burn onto a bluray disc if you don't want to have to copy it to the hdd

edit - i do not recommend dual layer discs. from experience you will have trouble reading the second layer from a different drive. stick to single layer.

timmy010: it's all or nothing.
You're incorrect there, every multi part installation on GOG can put on separate disks and during installation when it asks for file xyz.bin you simply swap the disk and browse the file on the next one. I used to backup many large games on DVD's (including Witcher 2 itself), never had issues.

@OP:

I've never used dual layer discs so I'll base my suggestion on a normal 4.7GB one. The game is split in 13 parts so it would be something like this (without extras):

Disk 1:

setup_the_witcher2_ee_3.4.0.25.exe
setup_the_witcher2_ee_3.4.0.25-1.bin
setup_the_witcher2_ee_3.4.0.25-2.bin
setup_the_witcher2_ee_3.4.0.25-3.bin

Disk 2:

setup_the_witcher2_ee_3.4.0.25-4.bin
setup_the_witcher2_ee_3.4.0.25-5.bin
setup_the_witcher2_ee_3.4.0.25-6.bin

Disk 3:

setup_the_witcher2_ee_3.4.0.25-7.bin
setup_the_witcher2_ee_3.4.0.25-8.bin
setup_the_witcher2_ee_3.4.0.25-9.bin

Disk 4:

setup_the_witcher2_ee_3.4.0.25-10.bin
setup_the_witcher2_ee_3.4.0.25-11.bin
setup_the_witcher2_ee_3.4.0.25.bin

The last disk is around 2gb so you can put 2.5gb more of extras in there. My backuped up GOG games are burned similarly. If you still wish to use a dual layer disks, simply add more files accordingly.

You can save it on a flash drive, they are really cheap and more stable than a DVD.
