Seriously? ... Seriously? I'm in Flotsam and to progress the quest I need to beat two meatbags at arm wrestling. Cool. But the minigame is damn near impossible. Click too slow and you fall behind, from which you cannot recover. Click too fast and the same thing happens. The little gold bar moves too slow to be fair. Are there any tips at beating this minigame at this occasion, and can I get by without EVER having to do it again later in the game? I even turned off Hard QTE's and it's like ice-skating uphill.
You don't need to click at all (well, I don't. I turned off complicated QTEs because I hate them) - just keep the gold dot as much in the middle of the bar as possible. Just move the mouse left and right.

I didn't realise this until I'd lost a couple of times to others (missing out on a sword from one of Roche's men), but when it became a necessary part of the quest I concentrated on it and it my stupid brain figured it out for once.

Those two guys are pretty easy - I just wrestled Zoltan Chivay and he's a fair bit harder.

Oh no, I am rubbish at the arm wrestling minigame, if it's necessary to a quest at some point I'd better get some practice in - apart from Zoltan, who in Flotsam will arm-wrestle with me?
If you get drunk with Roche's men, you'll get the opportunity to arm wrestle for a sword. Other than that you have to beat Zoltan and he'll point you towards some opponents.

Thanks for the suggestion - unfortunately I already failed that one miserably. I have fist fighting down to a fine art now, walk out of a fight without so much as a scratch, but I just can't seem to get to grips with the arm wrestling! It looks like it should be easy, but my mouse just drifts away from the bar, should I try changing mouse sensitivity either up or down before trying these bouts? I have it set to about the mid-point of the sensitivity slider.
The minigame is really easy just move your mouse to the right 1 bit at the start then do nothing if it starts to go to the left move it to the right again 1bit , the mouse alone will keep moving to the right no need to follow the green thing all the time , is hard to explain i hope you understand lol :)
Just make sure it stays on it the whole way til the end...if you get off the boat it's hard getting back in :)
I just wanted to report back, now that I am arm-wrestling champion of Flotsam. Anyone having problems, make sure that your mouse sensitivity is set to 10 before engaging in any arm-wrestling. If it's even a bit lower than the max, it's damn near impossible - maxing it makes a world of difference and turns it into a fun game rather than a nightmare!! Thanks to mondotomhead for suggesting this as a solution to QTE problems on another thread.

Good suggestion! That was my biggest issue with the mini game when I first played it, the mouse control was super twitchy, and not in a good way. I'll try that when I start up my second play through soon (I just finished the game).
I'm at my wits' end and Adam Pangratt's mother sucks dwarven cock.

I've been trying to beat the bastard at arm wrestling for the last oh.. 70 minutes?

After I figured out how arm wrestling works in this game I beat everyone I could find in one go. (rarely two) But this ploughing sob in chapter 2 is wiping the floor with me. Heck I've tried all sorts of mouse sensitivities and whatnot... (Although I refuse to lower the damned difficulty/disable hard QTEs)

So after 70 minutes of pure frustration, I decide to go *recalibrate* my so called wrestling skill, and guess what, I beat Magnus in one try again... Well off I go to to get my arse kicked some more.
Gently move the mouse to the right (no fast or long movements) then the bar will get smaller and smaller but because the mouse have the same speed as the bar you will win without problems.
30 minutes later, I can't freakin believe it how easily I can beat Magnus but how it is utterly impossible for me to beat Adam... Bah, I'm gonna take a huge freakin break.

Oh yea, I can confirm that arm-wrestling is still bugged from a financial point of view, apparently you still earn double what you bet, while only losing what you bet.

LMAO Its the easiest mini game I have ever played, seriously, if you find this hard you have issues.
On my second playthrough now. Beaten all the arm-wrestling people on the first one and am having no problems on the second. Move your mouse only ever so slightly when needed and you should be fine. It's harder than fistfight (no skill obviously) but easier than the dice (pure luck)

However, I dare you to play arm-wrestling after a bottle of wine (real wine, that is, not Geralt's). Damn, wasn't that frustrating!! Heheheh.
This freakin figures. I take a break, then say "ah what the heck, I'll give it one more go" and beat the bastard silly like he was some wussy elf.

Note to self: If failing something more than two times in a row, apparently taking a break is the way to go. (Hey that also sort of rhymes.)

Edit: Even having beat the only bastard that was any kind of problem for me at this minigame, I still utterly hate this arm-wrestling thing. I'll take fistfighting and even dice poker any day over this.
