Hello, I am new to this game, and I have come across places of power several times, those places where there is a rock with a blue aura that when you click on it something is supposed to happen, I don't know what happens because I don't notice anything distinct. Is that useful for something?

You need to put points into the appropriate skill tree, then they enable you to do things like:
A Ritual of Magic: 100% sign intensity for 5 hours.
A Ritual of Purification: Similar to White Honey, but it leaves any addition substance benefits in tact.
Ritual of Life: Increases your regeneration like a swallow potion.
Or if Kalkstein gives you a teleportation crystal, you can go from a place of power to the mages tower.
