I am having problems uninstalling The Witcher (and the second game).

I have gone through the Windows 7 'Uninstall a program' process with both games and they disappeared from the list of programs in the uninstaller, but this has not actually uninstalled them - all the game files are still there and I can still launch the games.

Navigating to the game shortcuts via the start menu gave me the option to uninstall from there but when I click on it, it tells me that: "The item 'unins000.exe' that this shortcut refers to has been changed or moved, so this shortcut will no longer work properly".

Any suggestions?

Have you tried reinstalling the games again so all the files are where they should be? Then try uninstalling and see if that works. That's worked for me in the past when I've had errors like that.
I've just tried reinstalling The Witcher: the new install uninstalled fine, but all of the files in the old one are still there (though the game no longer launches).

I reckon I'll probably just leave it until I really need the HD space...

Thanks for the response though Pajama.

Did you install in exactly the same place as the one that won't delete? It seems odd that you still have old files after a clean uninstall. As the files are still there maybe a manual deletion of the folder plus a clean up with CCleaner (https://www.piriform.com/ccleaner/download) might help just get rid of the left over bits and pieces. But like you say, maybe that's a job for when you need the HD space :)
Well, the first time I tried I pointed it at the original folder where it just made a new subfolder for the new install. So I uninstalled that one and installed again a level up but it made a separate folder rather than merging with the old one.

Gave me the same result either way when I uninstalled.
If it is already removed from the list of installed programs, I suppose all registry entries are properly removed and you can simply delete the remaining folder with the game files. This should not cause any problems.
