The game just keeps crashing for me and i've tried virtually every fix (downloaded the 4GB patch, playing in window mode, playing in Windows XP compatibility, running in administrator mode etc).

It's clearly an issue with the game as no other game gives me this problem. I also occasionally get the "Display Driver has stopped working" error but mostly the crashes are just a hard system crash forcing me to restart my entire system.

It's infuriating because i'm enjoying the game and this is really getting in the way of that. It's making me worry for my system because hard system crashes cannot be good for the computer.

My system:

Windows 10
980
4690K
8GB RAM

The version of the game i'm running is the GoG Enhanced Edition
What say the crash dump file, what was the problem? Mybe try another vga driver?

OK, first of all - crashing system won't hurt you computer so don't worry. The good news are - if only "Witcher EE" gives your rig problems everything is OK.

This game will crash occasionally. It uses modified Aurora engine which is also known as "unstable crap". I currently play my game on Windows 10 with computer far, far worse than yours and it crashes from time to time. Just save often and into different slots. Once every few hours you may eccounter forceful retreat to your desktop. Thats just how it works and I've seen it reported on Gamefaqs as well. I'm afraid there is nothing you can do about it.

Hard system crashes are odd though and shouldnt occur normally. You probably should just kill the game process using CTRL+SHIFT+Escape combo and using Task manager window. You can also look at this thread:
