Recently I bought The Witcher on Steam because of its low price... Completely forgetting that I could buy it here. What a dumb fool I was (you know, compulsively clicking after seeing "-75%"... :-)) So I've just bought a second copy on Gog.com as well as The Witcher 2 ;-) I'm more than happy to have an extra DRM-free installer as well as every goodie if this can help CD Projekt.

Simplex: In 20 years time, when everybody has forgotten that such a service as Steam even existed, you will be able to play Witcher you bought on gog (assuming you have compatible hardware ;) ).
I have retail Witcher DVD, Impulse version, Steam versin and GoG verson (and I also pre-ordered W2) - seems I like to support CDPROJEKT :) And I don't even like RPGs that much :D

hlhbk: Um Steam won't be going anywhere unless the entire video game scene dies. Even if that happens I have full faith in Valve to take care of their customers since they are the best developer bar none.
Good for you, but I do not have this faith so I prefer DRM-free solutions.
And in my opinion noone can be absolutely certain that Steam will function in 20 years, even Gabe :P
Aside from what others have mentioned, there's the game guide included as a bonus for buying the game here, if that matters to you.

Granted, guides aren't anywhere as important these days thanks to the internet, but I still bought it here as it's nice to have.

Best developer bar none? Actually, except for Half-Life and maybe Left 4 Dead (not sure), all "their" other games are bought out mods made by other people. (CS, DoD, Portal, heck even "their" new DotA game)

Also Valve's customer care is not that big. Remember Commandos on Steam? Unplayable unless you patch it for yourself.

hlhbk: I already own the Directors cut of the Witcher on Steam. What would be the advantages of repurchasing this on GOG?

And like Quake and Quake 2 with their missions packs, they don't have soundtracks included, you have to fix it by yourself. I wish those games will appear at GOG in the future.

Now I see why they decided to skip these in TW2...
