Pretty simple question really. How do I prove Thaler innocent so that I can get the graveyard/cemetary key ~ go find that special corpse I need to find to put an end to this silly chapter.

I know that I need to wait outside and find a "mysterious" man, but I've meditated, set the clock to midnight and he hasn't appeared. It's driving me crazy. I've also tried talking With Jethro to no avail. This is really frustrating me.
mysterious man appears just before midnight

I'm not having any luck. I tried an hour before... if I could just talk to him (I've seen him once now, so I know he's not a myth) (it wasn't midnight). I'd be able to put the game down for a day or so.. Bleh.. so frustrating. I despise this chapter immensely.

God this BS.... I have him now inside of the building, all he's saying is "you didn't see me" So frustrating T_T...got one more thing to try now...

You can drink with Thaler , too.

This may help a bit, but don't want to spoil it for you.

I usually used Captain Meis(?) for the key, as it was much simpler to 'prove' him innocent in my playthroughs.

Good luck and enjoy.

~Staggering over the inn to get more alcohol... >_<.
Problem is that I accused Vincent Meis @ the warehouse.

Ok, I understand.

It seems I always got Thaler to trust me after the drinking, but that might be somewhat circumstantial as I had completed Memory of a Blade quest (or something like that) prior.

It has been awhile, but you can also get proof from Shani, though I'm not sure whether it's at or after her party.
Okay then. I've been wandering around doing things as I can. Anyway, I just gave the grave digger some dwarven liquor, got the body to shani & the hospital.

Furthermore, google revealed that
Could a human have inflicted these wounds?

The bone marrow has been sucked out.

His neck muscles and palms look tense.

This is too easy.

= Azar Javad as the murderer during the Autopsy (as opposed to discovering the real body of the detective in the cemetary).

Cheers.
You have to complete Shani's party to get proof that Thaler is innocent.

Not true! Although that is one way to do it.

Once you've seen the mysterious man and talked to him, and he says "you didn't see me", you have to go back and talk to Thaler again, EVEN THOUGH HIS DIALOGUE OPTIONS ARE GREYED OUT. This confused me for some time. But if you talk to him again after seeing the mysterious man, you will clear him.

You can also do Shani's party and then talk to her about Thaler.
I was wondering this myself, as I saved right after I spoke to the Mysterious Man, and found the dialogue option grayed out.
Yeah you have to follow the greyed out conversation and always say Thaler's excuses make sense. I had a hard time figuring that out too, but gladly I did it. I didn't want to kill the other guy the inspector tells me to.
