Hi all,

I've been thinking of buying this game for my Mac, but after reading through some of the threads on the steam forum I learned that apparantly the steam version of the game is somewhat buggy and tends to crash, whereas the GOG version is more stable. Can anyone please confirm if this is true or not?

I saw some of the older threads here as well, but they were either a bit dated or didn't really give a definite answer.

Cheers!

I'm a regular on the Witcher forum, and a huge percentage of the people who show up there asking for help solving technical problems have the Steam version of the game. I don't know if the Steam version of the game is just buggy, or if Steam's user population is less technically inclined and so less able to solve problems on their own or if they're simply more vocal. But whatever it is, yes, there do seem to be more complaints from Steam users than from people who buy the boxed version or GOG version of the game.
I'm playing the GOG version on a mid-2010 Macbook Pro: the game runs decently and so far I had only one crash in about 15 hours playing time... I never tried the Steam version, but the GOG version runs quite stable for me.

I'm wondering if you got any answers to your query aside from the one person with the /macbook? I had purchased Witcher 2 and it was horrific in terms of gameplay and certainly don't want to experience the same thing again with GOG not offering any refunds for this type of thing. You bought it, you name it kind of attitude, so this time I'm trying to get some insight from other Mac users before I lay down my limited funds to purchase this. Any thoughts?
