funny,, half way through I was kinda was getting pissed of at the game,, but the ending was great,,,

still,,, combat could have bin way better,, there is no real builts,, all the same and plenty of skills to use

played on normel,, had some hard times as I really did not want to craft that much,, why not a single person sell potions >< still in the end it was easy,,, too easy I think I am try on the hardest possible,, couse that boss,, lol I did not even need to heal up,,,

anyone knows the witcher 2? without giving spoilers how is combat,,

the game is not that impressive as I would have though,, it looks great,, but they use the same persons all the time which is so annoying,, alot of adventures and side quests,, but there is too much running around and you could use a horse,, or more teleports

still it was fun,, but not nearly as good as they done with games like nwn baldurs gate etc
The combat in Witcher 2 is different than in Witcher 1 as is the different ways you can level your witcher . In Witcher 2 you can develop your witcher in one of three classes or a multitude of 2 or all three ...your choice . It`s really difficult to explain without giving away spoilers so i`ll stop here .
I am playing the Witcher 2 right now. I like the combat a lot. You no longer have the set attack sequences or fighting styles. Instead, there's just an fast attack and a strong attack. While that might sound too simple, it actually isn't, because of an emphasis on positioning and an improved parrying system. Now both you and your enemies can actively parry attacks, although you can't parry indefinitely, as it will drain your vigor, which is also what is used to cast signs. So there's a lot of waiting for an opening, and attacking at the right time, as well as dodging around so you don't get surrounded.

Plus, you can now actually throw bombs at enemies which makes them MUCH more fun to use. If you get surrounded, dodge your way out of there and then toss a bomb into the pack. You can also throw daggers at enemies, which are single-use but do pretty high damage and can't be blocked.

I also find myself using signs much more often. Since you're no longer locked into long attack chains, you have a chance to reposition and hit your enemies with some signs in between your sword attacks. I focused mainly on sword skills first but now I'm taking some magic skills and I'm enjoying them. When I replay the game I will probably try a more magic-focused build from the start.

The changes to alchemy are interesting... bombs are much more useful, as I said, but I find myself using potions less often. I usually only use them before particularly tough fights, and more often in the beginning of the game than I do towards the end. You have to enter meditation mode to drink potions now (you can't drink them during combat) and they don't last very long, so you need to really know that you're heading into a fight before you imbibe them. There are definitely times when this is appropriate though, like if I'm about to enter a cave that I know is infested with a certain type of enemy.

A warning: The Witcher 2 is harder at the beginning than it is towards the end. You will need to quickly learn how to position yourself in combat and how to use signs in order to survive the early fights. Later on, when you've got some good skills, you'll be better equipped for fights. I'm playing on Hard and I'm still enjoying a challenge in the later parts of the game though.

Finally, a caveat: I really enjoyed The Witcher 1, so it was kind of a given that I would like the second game. It seems that you liked the first game but weren't blown away, so don't go into the second game with TOO high expectations. I do think it's a big improvement though, so if you had fun with the first one you should definitely check out the sequel.

Oh also: there is a crafting system in The Witcher 2 to make items and such... I've enjoyed using it but it's definitely optional as you can find / buy equipment easily too. Many players report having a great time even though they completely ignored all the crafting.

TW2 is faster-paced, with less cross-country running and fewer Fedex quests, and a main quest that feels more urgent. If that's what upset you about TW1, you shouldn't have a problem with TW2.

Character development is a little more oriented toward builds. You can put talents into basic skills and three specialties, but if you want to get the top-level talents, you're going to have to concentrate on one specialty.

TW2 chews up and spits out mid-range computers. Make sure your rig is well up to running the game, which is one of the most demanding now on the market.
without reading too much seems like tw2 is good,, also hated the moving around,, not able to jump,, and so many times you get stuck or have to run another way around,, in the intro movie it looked like you could crawl on walls and building,, would have bin nice,,

going to play it on the hardest and then maybe if the price gets lowered,, or if I get bored I am get the second one

edit,, I say my computer is up to the challenge,, I think,, its only 2 month old and it runs games like sc2 with full grafic without any lag or problems,,

Just because it is new or can play other games does not automatically mean it will play TW2 or play it well. It needs to come close to the minimum requirements to play the game with any fluency, and it should meet the recommended requirements to reach high settings. If you could post your specs, many regulars will give you a quick response on whether your computer is well suited to the game.

Someone else has trouble getting performance with the same system.

Basically, GT325M is pretty decent as far as laptop graphics go, but Witcher 2 is a very demanding game.
You'll be able to play, but won't be getting nearly as good performance as in Witcher 1.

hm,, I see well I dont know much about thise computer things,, cant I just lower the grafics? tends to work in most games,,
Yep, the lower the graphics settings, the smoother the gameplay.
It's just you'll need to go somewhat lower with W2 than with W1, to get similar playability.

well dont really care much about how it looks,, well a little,,

but mostly gameplay,, combat, plot etc etc
just got the witcher 2,, and its working just fine,,, got some random lag here and there,, but that I hat with the witcher 1 also so its good

dam they put the difficulty up alot,, or maybe just in the start,, died so many times,, only to find out that the signs are diffent,, and very good

really do not like the camera,, why not able of choising that yourself like in the old game,, really hard to play this way,,

but its looking interesting,, cant judge this fast

Most players felt this way too... its harder at the beginning than it is later on. Learning the signs is key; Quen and Aard especially are really useful early on. Stick with it though, it's a great game!
