I'm just trying out the game for the first time and am not thrilled with the combat system. Right now, I have to hover over an enemy with the mouse and click, and then Gerhalt attacks. And I have to keep doing that.

Is there a way to make the combat controls work more like Witcher 2? Can I have it be entirely keyboard based in a hack-and-slash approach, as it is in the second game, instead of hovering and clicking on enemies? Or is this a restriction of the first game, where you can't use keyboard buttons to just approach and attack?

I think thats not possible, Sadly.

The Game is based on the aurora engine, witch was build to made topdown RPGs. Its highly modified but still topdown engine. Even with mods i find no way to make combat more enjoyable.

Im playing it atm on easy for the story, so combat is not so mutch the Problem ;)

Never played Witcher 2 myself. I like the timing needed for combat in this game. I love the Neverwinter Nights games, but clicking repeatedly with no sense of rhythm doesn't feel right.

Not if you're supposed to be a highly skilled swordsman. But each to their own..
