I managed to get The Witcher downloaded this morning before work. After downloading, it started "combining" (if I remember correctly). After that, I clicked "Install" and got an error stating that it couldn't load the first file (the name fails me at the moment, and I'm at work now). I opened the download folder and found that while the Downloader took FOREVER to "combine", most of the files were still in "chunks". So, of course the Installer couldn't find the file, as it was in about 10 peices (or more), each with a ".chunk" extension. I wasn't sure how to get the Downloader to do the "Combining" thing again, so I deleted the download and started it again. When I get home, I hope to not have any "chunks" waiting for me. Any ideas?

You can download the files using your browser, that's how i download everything from gog.
Sorry, can you download the game using internet download manager?

I'm under the impression that since the last site update you can (without running into the old 'resume not supported' issues that used to affect downloads through download managers), but i download everything manually with my browser so i' can't be 100% sure.

Am I supposed to have 206 files in my default download folder after downloading? Maybe I should have just downloaded the six files via the browser instead of the GOG downloader (like I usually do).

Have you told the downloader to install the game yet ? Maybe it will gather those chunks into the install files once you go ahead with the install.

I can tell you that i finished downloading The Witcher EE right now via browser and i have 6 files, one .exe and 5 .bin

It should combine the chunks automatically after finishing downloading. I think there is a slight problem with part 3, its chunks aren't deleted although the file combine properly.

Ah ok, that would surely explain it. In that case, if the file combines properly, it's just a matter of deleting the chunks.

Still, nothing beats downloading stuff manually ;)
I downloaded with the GOGdownloader but I'm having a supposed install problem because when i try to launch the game I get a system error saying The program can't start because d3dx9_35.dl is missing from your computer. Try reinstalling the program to fix this problem. But when I do that i still get the same witcher.exe system error! And it says it's better to use the GOGdownloader because it will fix errors! I hate having to combine the chunks manually!

If the problem is on game launch then most likely it installed correctly. That error seems to indicate missing DX9 files on your system, try to intall the DX9 package from microsoft.
And the first part of the manual download is corrupted. I still had patience when I waited for the GOGdownloader to be fixed but this is stretching it very thin!

But it says in the top left The witcher.exe so i assume it refers to reinstalling that program instead of something I don't have a problem with at all since I play a lot of games and have like directx version 10 or something!

I'm sorry you are having problems.

I can tell you that i (manually) downloaded and installed the game without any issues. Maybe check if your Anti Virus or Firewall are messing up the download.

If the game is installed and it's on launch that it's complaining about some missing file you can try to re install it if you wish, but it's likely the problem won't go away by re installing the game, problems relating to missing dx9 files are fairly common problems and usually installing the latest DX9 version from microsoft is what solves them.

The DX9 installs side by side with DX10, meaning that by instatling DX9 you won't be replacing the DX10 install you have, you'll have both on your PC and games will use which ever version they require.

DirectX9 is still needed for many games and is installed next to DX10 / 11. It is separate package. You can get it from Microsoft or from here.

Thanks it worked I did'nt think a problem with the executable could be caused by having a newer version of directx!
