I've been watching reviews since finishing this game, not a single person even mentions isometric view and a big part of the clunk that they all critisize this game for stems from the OTS camera.
Now I'm rather new to PC exclusive RPGs and a lot of the jank that comes with them, but even I noticed upon the first moment of gaining control that the movement mechanics and control design clashed against each other hard, something is wrong here.
Switched to Isometric camera and everything about the game suddenly meshed well together and made sense.
Click to initiate auto attack? The way Geralt turns? Press movement key x2 to initiate a manuever? Absolutely bizzare design choices for a third person camera.
But switch to a high camera angle and allow everything to be initiated via contextual clicks? It works incredibly well.
So why bother with OTS when you sacrifice situational awareness and superior controls for depth perception which is useful...never in this game since everything you can interact with at one time is within 20 yards of you.
Also, the game looks 10x better with Isometric.
