Right now, I am beginning to play this game only because everybody else needs to love this series, but I am absolutely stuck at the part where I'm supposed to open a gate in front of some other people fighting off others and calling out to me that I need to open the gate.

But the problem is that I can't quite figure out how to open the gate! I tried looking up a walkthrough and found out that holding "Alt" highlights usable objects, and it worked for me in some ways... But it didn't show up the winch as a usable object at all! Unlike when I saw that it was selectable in the walkthrough!!!

Did my game not install properly?!?!?!??!?!?! HOW CAN I DO THIS?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!??!

Never mind! I have heard from a few forums that have a similar problem and found out that I had to kill all the guys, but there were no guys in my area, so I had to look literally everywhere and I found another guy that I had to kill all the way afar! That's just... terrible game design! >:(

...By the way, how do I mark a post as a solution here. Sorry, I'm very new here...

Four years later, you got no reply but I just found myself in the same situation! Turns out there was still an enemy a little ways behind me who didn't pursue me. Once I went back and killed him, the game triggered the next "tip" and told me I should left-click the winch. And voila, it suddenly worked!

Hope this helps any future souls...

ADDITION: Funny, I could only see the original post, no replies. Now that I've replied, I see the others. And I don't see a way to mark a "solution" either.
