As stated in the title, how do I create potions from the alchemy? It seems I don't get the potion I want when I try to create one.
I have all the ingredients, but still I get some alcoholic beverage instead. In the tutorial it says click on the vial button to create potion. But the vial button showed in the picture seems not to be appearing, or is it another vial button I should press? The mix button creates the alcoholic beverage...

Edit: nevermind, I guess I read wrong.

Check your ingredients, it sounds like you're mixing White Gull potion. What are you trying to mix?

I am trying to mix Swallow.
One weird thing is that all recipes I have gives the same alcohol as result :S

You have the Alchemy pane, right?
(Just checking, it sounds like you're drinking the alcohol instead if mixing ;) )

Swallow uses 1x Vitriol, 2x Rebis, 1x Aether. When you mix them, what's the result exactly?
Yeah, I'm on that pane. I don't remember the name of the thing I get. I check on that when I am home.

Btw, some of the items have extra ingredients, do they affect the result of the mix? Even without those extra I still don't get Swallow :(

Have you tried selecting the formula instead of mixing the ingredients yourself ?

Do you keep the right order of ingredients? Maybe it affect the result as well (I never checked that one).

The 'extra' part is kind of 'dominant' - when you mix the potion from ingredients with the same subtype (i.e. all 'Albedo' parts) you will get an extra quality:

Albedo lowers Toxicity level over time
Nigredo boosts your Damage
Rubedo increases regeneration rate

I select the formula, didn't know I could do the other way

In Alchemy pane, you can also drag the ingredients manually and then click the 'Mix' vial below.

If you get a purple potion it could be a failed experiment. There's a run through page on potions here

I always double click the formula, and it makes a potion automatically.[as long as the name is white, not grayed out]. I guess i'm the one playing this game the weird way. ;)

But that's no fun at all :P

Especially when the game picks which items it will use, and You might loose some items for a quest, and will have run, for example, to the swamps to get them again [Act 2].

But then again, it's always a mystery.. What ingredients will i the game use? Ain't that fun?:P
I played around with alchemy for a bit, and then decided, it's too much of a hassle for me, and i just spam 10 Swallows and go on my way, picking every possible flower on my way. I'm a hippie Witcher, full of flowers, constantly high/drunk.;D

Sure, and then you Swallow is made of Ghoul's blood, Drowner's brain and two doses of Cadaverine - ain't that yummy XD

Sounds delicious!;]
And, does that make an ingame difference? Or is it just a player conscience/consciousness thing? The only thing i've noticed is that i have two potions, by the same name, one regenerating energy, and one regenerating both energy and health. Does that mean, the actual ingredients i put in matter, they may change the strength or the effects of a given potion?
