I got The Witcher during the recent sale, but it turns out the game is unplayable as-is. After installing i launched it, and ran into problems right away. The intro sequence runs at a horrible speed - roughly 0.5 FPS. It draws one frame every 2 seconds. You can actually see it drawing the frame as it happens. I restarted the game several times and the same thing happens again and again. After 15 minutes of running, the intro is perhaps about 1/2 of the way through.

My computer is reasonably new and powerful (core I7 @ 3.2GHz, Radeon 7870) and runs all my games at very good resolutions and speeds, The Witcher is the only game that acts like this. I have the latest drivers, the latest directx updates etc.

I tried the fixes suggested in this thread http://www.gog.com/forum/the_witcher/fixes_to_common_problems/page1 but none of them worked. The game still runs as a slideshow at very low FPS.

Any ideas?
