Hi all,
I've played this game several times and am now replaying it having just downloaded the enhanced, directors cut edition. I'm playing on medium level and have played this level in the past. I'm now in Chapter 2 and when I enter into combat Geralt swings a lot but doesn't connect a lot. I just hear a swishing sound. I am familiar with the combat system and know that I have to wait for the sword to turn yellow etc. It's just that he is not hitting the targets for some reason, but just swinging and missing. This didn't happen in Chapter 1 and just started recently.

I'm using a lot of Ard signs to stun my opponents in order to hit them with my sword and am using the correct sword, (silver for monsters and steel for humans). Anyway this is the first time this has happened to me and I'm wondering why.

Any thoughts?

Switch combat style. You are probably fighting in strong style against fast enemies, thus you need to switch to fast style in order to be able to hit them. Group style usually works against every enemy, but it's not worth it for one or two. And using fast style against armored enemies means that even though you may hit them, you won't damage them (much).

I have switched to all the styles during each fight and the game still acts the same.

EDIT:

Well the game fixed itself. I'm now getting the yellow swords as I'm used to and able to connect in combat. I think that the game was not transferring between combat modes as it should have before even though I was switching. I started using the mouse pointer to change modes rather than the E and Q keys and that helped. Anyway problem solved.
