Hey everybody i just bought the witcher for my PC and for some reason i turned the setting all the way to max on every single thing and i go from 20 to 80 fps, is this normal because im kind of mad that my new pc doesnt run the game smoothly. Dont get me wrong its no unplayable its just annoying going from a 80 to 30 drop in FPS, I mean i get 70 FPS with Battlefield 3 on high why cant i play this 5 year old game maxed out too?

MY system is
AMD quad @ 2.9
Radeon 6950
4 gig ram
win 7 64bit

Please help thanks!
There could be a specific graphics setting that's causing problems. Try fiddling with a few of them and see if there's one that really improves the FPS. I recently had some crazy framerate problems with Skyrim, for example, and it turned out it was all the anti-aliasing setting, and that turning this off and using FXAA instead gave me great framerates while still looking really good.

Also, if you are using multiple monitors, you should switch to just one of them as multiple monitors cause problems with The Witcher. You also might try forcing windowed mode, as this fixes a lot of issues for people. There are instructions for this in my "fixes to common problems" sticky thread.
