PracticalKat: I've loaded up to try and finish the game after a long time. As far as I can remember I was busy collecting Sephirots (spelling?). Going to the Journal I can't find any mention of the quest, although the wiki says it has to do with getting into the tower for Kalkstein.
But when I opened the save I was in the city and not in the swamp so maybe my memory is wrong. I must be missing something obvious - where can I pick this information up in-game?
The quest that logs how many sephirots you have is "A Mysterious Tower". It will update with new phases as you collect more sephirots. Make sure you haven't checked/unchecked the option to show past quest phases so you will see all the progress.
The sephirots should be in your inventory as quest items (the ones you can't sell or store). Do NOT place them in the monoliths in the swamp until you've collected all 10 of them, as this is known to cause a bug when the placed sephiroths can simply disappear.
In your inventory you should have another item, "Kalkstein's notes", with hints about where to find the sephirots. Kalkstein should give it to you during the first phases of "A Mysterious Tower". However, it's possible to start collecting the sephiroths as you explore Vizima before receiving the notes.

I think "Monoliths" is for when you are placing them and not collecting them?
