So I'm playing witcher 1 on a macbook air 2013 and during one of the first quests it crashes at the same point every time. The one where I have to light the 5 candles. After the 3rd one I walk 5 meters and thats it.

I played witcher 2 for 190 hours =) Not on the macbook of course ... the steam version of Witcher 1 doesn't launch at all.

CD Project did a really bad job. The os x port is a joke. W 1 crashes, W 2 is so slow its unplayable (on my macbook air) ... and I DO think the Air could be fast enough. The Unigine Valley demo for example is running smoothly at 20-25 frames/sec. with lowest settings.

So what about the crash issue?

So the Steam version is worse? It's on sale for about 3 bucks until around noon on the 24th... I was going to buy it there too for my Mac, but if it's more unstable...

Anyone have a better experience with The Witcher 1 EE on Steam for the Mac than the version here? If so, let us know so I can grab it there too while it's dirt cheap.
W1 should do better on a 2013 Air than you're getting. The minimum GPU is an Intel HD 3000, and the 2013 exceeds that handily. Your problem sounds like a bad install, with some resource having gone missing.

But W2, don't blame CDPR for you not having a computer that can run it. No Intel GPU can run it satisfactorily, nor is any Intel GPU included in the stated minimum requirements.
