Hello, someone who knows the Witcherverse better (or has better memory than me) might confirm or deny, but I think it is implied that The Price of Neutrality happened long before the game (at the time of the short stories, I'd say), while I think the other adventures are necessarily non-canon.
At any rate, if this is your first time playing I'd strongly suggest to play the main game first.
I have dabbled in the main game and not read the books (but seen the tv series) I felt like I missed something in the story but none of the new adventures elaborate this? I really do not care if the others are considered canon or not now they are there so I will play through them and would really like to know the chronological play order though

I don't think any of the new adventures have any connections whatsoever with the main plot. I've also taken a look on the Wiki and I can confirm that the only one that has a clear collocation in the timeline, before the main game, is The Price of Neutrality. There is no need to read the books to enjoy the games (Geralt has an amnesia anyway), although 2 and especially 3 refer to them much more.

Feel free to write here the things that you haven't understood about the plotline/lore and I'll be happy to explain them if I can.
The Witcher: Side Effects I have also seen mentioned. The events between chapter one and the start of chapter two in the main campaign has me a bit baffled I felt like I missed something in between?

Hmm I'm not sure what you're referring to... Geralt attempts to be admitted into Vizima and because of his insistency (and because they're racists) the guards think he counterfeited his letter of admittance, so they slam him into the prison on the basis of a vague suspicion. If instead you're referring to the passage between the prologue and chapter 1, that is admittedly a bit more jarring: basically the main characters realise that Salamander is a very real danger and they decide to split up to look for clues about who they are and who sent them around Temeria. Geralt goes to the village outside Vizima and meets Shani and Alvin.

Indeed it is between the prologue and chapter 1. I found a chronological list that has The Price of Neutrality and Side Effects before the main game. The rest I cannot find but as I read it they can be played before as well as they do not spoil anything?

None of the side adventures spoil anything :) Just don't touch Witcher 2 before finishing W1
