I'm stuck.

I am at the part that I found the guard and said the password (lilly etc fire)

we meet at midnight, the guard says... the ladder!!!! etc.

I leave back up to the trade quarter... re-enter the sewer. But CANNOT FIND THE LADDER the guards apparently set up.

Tha ladder should be behind guard.

Looks like bug, any hint ?

This would be a gamebreaking bug, and I don't believe in it.

Do you (or did you) use any cheats, mods, the savegame editor etc.? Then you could be the unhappy owner of a corrupt savegame/installation.

If so, then delete all these things thoroughly.

Verify/repair your game. (-> galaxy -> more) and start the quest again.

Believe or not :) this is true.
No cheats, mods, savegames etc. Clean installation, last available release based by GOG.
I found that somebody had this same issue and the resolve was to find the key in sewers, I checked this area multiple times. Nothing has changed.
I can try reapair game.

Repair did nothing.
I loaded earlier autosave and now cutscene is with ladder.
Still thinks this is not a bug ?

are you meeting them either just before or after midnight? if you do it too early or too late then you have to wait for the next night. if i'm correct, it's the quest where you meet the guard in the sewers so you can 'dismantle' the final salamandra cell?
if so, the guard should call for the ladder and it will go to a cutscene of two men carrying it and place on the wall behind him and he says he'll wait for you.

Yes You are right, i'm in place on time after midnight.
The guard is calling for the ladder but there was no cutscene with ladder.
I had to download save 1 day earlier.

you could keep playing from your previous save and see if that does anything. i'm wondering if you've completed all the other quests before this one? if you've already tried repairing/verifying the only other suggestion i can make would be to reinstall

This is a gamebreaking bug I've experienced. Even when you wait to midnight the next day the ladder isn't up and you can't interact with the guard to get it up

But going back to an old save game solves it. I think you have to be there bang at midnight otherwise it breaks.
