Hello,

I have The Witcher - Enhanced Edition on my Steam Account and tried to get the free backup with the CD Key that is shown there. It says my key is invalid for some reason and I don't have a receipt because I got the game as a gift from a friend.
Weirdly enough, I got Witcher 2 from the same friend as a gift and the key for that game works just fine. Any ideas on what's wrong there?

Some cd keys of the enhanced edition are not readily accepted by their database, just follow the alternative procedure in the link that appears when it fails to recognize your cd key to obtain your back-up copy.

LOL
Same here, but at a certain point I couldn't help but ask myself: "do I want to put up with that slow-loading steam client every time I want to replay the game?"
Captain Obvious has the answer.
Just got my new key for my Steam version of the game, took but a few hours. A big thank you to GOG and project RED!

[i]"Dear The Witcher fan,

We accepted your request for a replacement Product Key needed to redeem your free backup copy of The Witcher from GOG.com.
This is your new Activation Code: xxxxxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx . You can use it on http://gog.com/witcherbackup.
Thank you for contacting us and have fun playing the game!

Cheers!
I don't get it. Do I enter my steam username, my steampage username, or my steam name?

What's the difference?

Username is what you login with, steampage is what your profile is, steam name is what you're displayed as to friends

And all three of those are different for you (afaik, at least two of those should be identical)? I didn't have to resort to GOG's alternative method, is it asking you to validate your Steam account? If that is the case, I would guess that your "fake" names aren't what they are looking for, but rather the "real" name on the account, the name you log in with.

Well they ask you to public your profile so I sent them my profile name
Make sure you go community > Edit my profile > Settings
Set profile status to Public.
So they can see that you have it in your account.
