As far as I can tell it uses the desktop resolution by default, which typically translates into:
a) the native resolution of the user's monitor,
b) if the user isn't aware that their desktop resolution is wrong, then whatever. ;)

Honestly, though, why change the resolution if it's the right one by default?

well again from the demo that I played I didn't get the resolution from my desktop witch is 1920x1200 so thats why I wanna know if the game has a function to make you force it.
The Whispered World installs no programs to do that; the registry keys seems having nothing to do with resolution and I cannot see any setting file.

So from what I can say you have to try. Otherwise can't you reduce the resolution just before playing?

The game only runs in 1024x768. If the desktop using any other resolution it stretches the image to fit into this resolution. You can however enable a windowed mode in the config program called TWWOptions, which is installed in the Game folder. This basically just stretches the image vertically and fills the horizontal gaps with black bars on the left and right of the screen. It looks ok because it keeps the proper aspect ratio but it still magnifies the screen. If you want to use the proper resolution you have to run the game in a true windowed mode. You do this by change the line "FULLSCREEN = yes" to "FULLSCREEN = no".

The true windowed mode has the disadvantage of becoming rather small when you're running a high desktop resolution. But this is the only way to avoid any stretching/magnifying of the screen.
