Stores in my area (Half Priced Books for example) sell this in a clamshell case on disc for $5. Steam routinely puts it on sale for that price as well. I could understand a $10 price point, but I am disappointed to see a game that is routinely sold so cheap debut at a $15 price point.

I'd pay the price gladly if the game would let me play in German with English subtitles(if there is a way to do this on my Steam copy, please clue me in ;)). Just my 2 cents.

Way overpriced.

In US a movie theater for 90 minutes of entertainment costs $7.89 (on average).
It means that the if the game entertains for more than 171 minutes it is not overpriced.

And believe me, if you like adventure games it will.

ye this game is really good the voices are amazing i was a bit reluctant that Sadwicks voice might have been annoying but the whole cast brings back the golden years of this genre, its absolutely stunning to look at aswell.

Only problem i have with this on my Windows 7 pc is that it crashes randomly quite often which means you will always play it in fear and save often which really is something that can ruin the immersion of the game, also its pretty hard

I do not have problem with crashes at all and I don't do Windows. So I can only assume the problem in your side.

Crashes break immersion sure, but the ``Continue game'' function should allow to restart from exactly where it left. Doesn't it?

About difficulty I usually play adventure games with a friend. It is much more fun and two brains find solutions much quicker.
If you really really are stuck you can try a walkthrough. Unfortunately it is not always easy finding exactly the hint you need without spoiling other puzzles.

the game is fantastic and as far as entertainment value and quality goes its easily worth more than $15. And steam sells it currently for 20! And im happy for you if you have stores that sell it for $5... but thats got to be an extreme rarity. If you want it on sale, then you can wait (gog will have it on sale too eventually) but right now its a more than reasonable price.

The summer promo thingy says it's supposed to have 60% off the price (tis why I voted for it), but it's still up as $14.99 :s Has there been some kind of glitch? Trine's price cut has applied..

I refreshed it a bunch of times, and was getting quite worried (hence posting about it), but I came back a bit later and thankfully the new price was there. Was up half the night playing Trine lol so will give Whispered World a crack shortly, methinkies :D

The price for this is all over the board. Steam has it for $20, GMG for $25... Amazon, however, has had it on sale for under $3 for over a week, and shows a regular price of $7. GamersGate has it listed at $6.95, not on sale.

I too "feel" that this title is overpriced at anything above $10. Of course, GOG offers goodies and is DRM-free. But still.

Full disclosure: I have not played this game. It doesn't really appeal to me, but looks more like it should be a movie than a game. If it were a movie, I might watch it with my kids, who knows.

Gamersgate gives me a price of 9,95€ rather than $6,95. GOG's standard price is somewhere between 11-12€ and it's the second best price I have seen, so I wouldn't call it overpriced. DVD version is between 19,90€ and 28,90€ in my local stores. And considering that I bought this game from GOG sale, I think I got the best deal there is.

Also I want to point out that this is a really nice adventure game and I have paid a lot more for much worse adventure games. The Whispered World has better plot and puzzles than many other recent adventure games.

It has nothing to do with the "value" of the game in regards to how much play time you get versus what you paid. It has to do with the market value.

One person may see aluminum foil for the first time and think that thin reflective metal is absolutely amazing. And to them it is worth $10 for a square foot of it. Just because this one person finds it to be so amazing though, does not change the fact that stores sell it for like $5 for 50 feet.

I personally have really enjoyed many games. But just because I find a game enjoyable does not mean I will over pay the market value of the game. To do so is simply naive.

As I stated above, the simple fact is I bought a physical copy of the game (with a disc, clamshell, and manual) for $2.99, several months before it ever appears on GoG. And this was not a sale price, it is the standard price at this store for this game. They still sell it for that amount.

I would be willing to buy a second digital copy for a competitive price, however the game has now been out for over 3 years, and GoG still asks $15 for it. That is the fundamental issue with digital download services. The market value of physical goods fluctuate with demand. Stores will not keep a product in stock that is not selling (a result of low demand). It costs a store money to sit on unsold stock. So the price changes to what people will pay. Digitally however, economics go down the drain. Just look at Xbox Live selling a digital download of a game for $59 while the physical copy is $19.99 in stores. The physical copy can be resold, traded, lent to a friend, and still exists even after the hard drive and servers are gone, and yet the delusional digital market doesn't budge.

So it leads to these crazy summer and winter sales where services like GoG and Steam suddenly mark tons of products down to %75, and for the first time they are relatively close to their real market value.

TL:DR? Just because you think the game is amazing and worth hundreds of dollars doesn't change the fact that the market value is about $5 at most for it.

The fact which you seem to ignore is that the game has more market value elsewhere. GOG's prices are universal, so they have to take into account how expensive these games are in other regions than your own. GOG's current price is pretty close the average what you have to pay for the physical copy of the game in Germany (BTW Daedalic who made the game is German company). In several other European countries the physical copy of the game is more expensive (for example I bought GOG version, because it was considerably cheaper to buy the game from them than from local store). So, while the game might not have much market value in your region, it still has enough market value in Europe that it's physical copies haven't ended up into 5€ bin.

Then they have to accept that regions like mine, the entire US, won't be very interested in the game. I hope the sales it get sin Germany makes up for our region.
