This game works fine in wine. Just install and play.

I've made some different expiriences.
Clicking the Menuentry didn't start the game so i started "wine TWW.exe" on the terminal.

This resulted in:
err:module:import_dll Library MSVCR90.dll (which is needed by L"C:\\Programme\\GOG.com\\The Whispered World\\SDL.dll") not found

winetricks vcrun2008 didn't help

then i removed the SDL.dll from Whispered World and installed SDL via winetricks.

Now the games starts, but the Mousecursor is very laggy.

What are your wine settings? Have you installed native libraries?

$ wine --version
and
$ glxinfo | grep '^dir\|^Open'

I use wine 1.5.2 and I set nothing peculiar. Just install in a clean wineprefix and play.

Wine: Uh! Wine was 1.1.36.
Now its wine-1.5.2 and TWW run's out of the box

OpenGL renderer string: Gallium 0.4 on AMD REDWOOD
OpenGL version string: 2.1 Mesa 7.11.2
OpenGL shading language version string: 1.20
OpenGL extensions:

The graphics are very ugly/blocky here. Maybe it's an issue with the Open Source Driver.

The rendering lines seem good. So it is well possible it is a driver problem, try the nvidia driver.

Read this article if you want to keep both drivers.
