I never played the original, but I'm curious about this version.

Does anyone know of any mods or other enhancements that work with this version? Some rudimentary searches revealed this (https://www.moddb.com/mods/the-wheel-of-time-esrgan-pack) mod that upscales the textures. I'm unsure if it works with the GOG release, but it seems like it might?

Does anyone know of any other mods or enhancements to the original that might be beneficial to apply to this release?

--EDIT-- I just installed the game and installed this mod (the instructions for the renderer were a bit confusing at first, until I realized that it is used to install renderers for multiple different mods). The mod seems to work with the GOG version of WOT! Yay!--

Haven't tested with the GOG version but I know two.

This site has some very old mods, multiplayer maps and some single player ones.
http://www.wheelgame.com/default.asp

This an archived fan site with single player maps. Two are newer versions than the previous site.

If there is more I want to know, too.
If you want a comprehensive site for downloading MODs and stuff to this game wotoni.com has a site with downloads. It includes a wotserverconfiguration utility, a wot editor fix program, a thumb utility for easy keybindings and loads of user made maps for Multiplayer. They have alos put up a few servers for the GOG version of WHeel of time, though you will need to edit your 'ini files (instructions on site) to be able to see the servers since the original files point to gamepsy and need to point to wotoni.com as well to see these servers
I am one of the players from the original game back in the day.

We did have many community mods - many lost to time and some still available. Unfortunately, I suspect these mods will not work with the GOG version of the game, as it is technically a new version.

In the past, there were many notable mods for the game. I wish I could say that we still had working versions of all of these - we don't (or the people who do haven't really said so). Unfortunately, WoT was most active right before the true boom of the internet and almost all of what we really did/had has not been documented properly.

Thankfully, this information does still reside in the minds of the folks who were there (even if we're all old now and can't remember half of it). Here are some of the mods that I can think of off the top of my head:

WoTSecure
This is a mod that we currently still were using to this day on a server that I host with another former player.

WoTSecure mostly addresses obvious security flaws in the game - protecting against simple aimbots. It also has a nice system of assigning each player on the server a number aka a unique ID which can be used for admin functions (kicking, banning) and to send DMs through WoT. Finally, it shows on the scoreboard if someone is logged in as Administrator.

(There may be some other things but that's the brunt of it)

Milamber TA
No version is available to my knowledge

Milamber TA addressed some balance issues to the Ter'Angreal (weapon) system. Most notably:

- Dart is now able to penetrate fire shield (removes the 'fire' element from darts properties)
- Whirlwind uses a charge each time it is used (previously you could tap ww multiple times in a single 'charge')
- Corrected an issue where balefire could be used in combination with whirlwind to hold a player in place while balefiring them (if you see anyone do this in the new version it is 100% cheating and you should educate/call them out)
- Modification to the spawn weapons in Arena (can't remember 100% but minor things like spawning with Fireball - could be remembering this a bit wrong)
- Modification to the spawn weapons in Citadel

There's probably some more but that's the main stuff that I can remember.

WoTAdvanced
The owner of this may have still a version but has not released it to the public

WoTAdvanced was an extremely ambitious and extremely powerful modification to the game, which had many useful additions. The primary items I can remember were additional cheat protection measures against aimbot & an incredible system of allowing Citadel edits (for your base) to be saved locally and loaded. This greatly reduced the wait time before the start of Citadel and also helped to educate/balance games by providing edits which were saved to the server itself, so that players who were less experienced at editing could choose from a list of pre-configured edits.

WoTAdvanced had many other uses and was amazing, but it also caused some instability to the servers due to the choppiness of WoT's original code + the grandeur of what the mod was attempting to achieve.

Bag mod
No version available to my knowledge

This was a simple mod made for Arena which allowed a user to retain his bag (weapons) upon death. This was used for dueling and could also be used for Arena in general, to ensure better balance by reducing the ability for a player to dominate based on spawnkilling/T'A gathering alone.

Shadowed Destiny
No version available

Whereas many of the previously mentioned mods projects by single developers,
Shadowed Destiny was a massive undertaking by the community, involving multiple developers across a timeline of over a year.

This mod had it all and was as ambitious as they come. It's a bit different than the others in that it altered the game fundamentally by attempting to create a weaving system for the weaponry - moving away from charges and into a mana-like system where the weapons had a cool-down. It also added many new weapons to the game. Finally, there were maps packaged in with the mod as well. Essentially, this is the only modification in WoT's history that is a true "expansion" in every sense.

Unfortunately, this mod was also used as a direct way for aimbotters to exploit the game. Something which was later patched with WoTSecure (along with other vulnerabilities).

??? Ter'angreal mod
There may be a version available - I haven't looked into it

There was a modification that ran on some servers which added new Ter'Angreal to the game. Unfortunately, I cannot remember the name of this mod.

Many of the weapons were similar to the existing weapons in sprite or logo, but they were altered in some way (colors, speed, elements, properties, etc.)

-----------------------------
These are all of the mods that I can remember off of the top of my head. There may be some others that folks may be able to chime in on. There's also an official utility that was created by Legend called T.H.U.M.B. which helped to modify your hand (weapon storage) so that you could have different weapons in different slots without needing to modify the user.ini.

Hopefully this helps! And this is all very exciting for all of us so if you have any other questions, definitely don't hesitate to ask!

[EDIT]Realized you asked for mods that work with this release and I've failed spectacularly at answering that. But I do hope this information can still be useful to some to provide some history if nothing else![/EDIT]
