I was really looking forward to this release since WoT is pretty tricky to get running with cutscenes. I recently played through my disc version with the cutscenes disabled since no fix seemed to be working. It's a shame that I have to say I got the same issues with this release. Deleting the cutscenes is the only way for me to play the game right now.

When starting the game it takes a few seconds until the errors in the attached image are displayed. Does anyone of you have any ideas? Thanks in advance! :)

This is actually the error I was facing when trying to run it in Wine. See here how I got around it - the trick is to disable ddraw.
Thank you very much.

The issue is that this has the same effect as deleting the cutscenes. This release should run with all bells and whistles, but I suppose it is like it has been with WoT for the last decade or so. Cutscenes will run for some but not for many.

edit: installing qt lite didn't help either. Only the Quicktime message went away. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Have you tried using the DDraw wrapper on the PCGamingWiki? I've no idea if this is the same, or similar, to whatever wrapper GOG uses, but it is listed on PCGamingWiki as a fix for the cutscenes.

I've tried these and none of it seems to be working.... I get a slightly different General Protection fault:
CRITICAL ERROR
General Protection fault!
History: glxInit <-UGalaxyAudioSubsystem::Init <- UEngine::Init <-UGameEngine::Init <- InitEngine

Any ideas?

Where is that option? In the advanced video settings?

I gave up on this release and just installed from disk and used the DX11 renderer off moddb. https://www.moddb.com/mods/unreal-directx11-renderer-for-ut-ug-rune-and-dx/downloads/directx11-renderer-for-wotrune-hp12-cbu-and-ds9tf-version-162

I haven't had any issues. Also using the AI upscaled texture pack, looks nice.

The old copy of the game had way more issues working on modern systems than the GOG version. At this point, reviewing your history and refusal to help yourself, it's pretty clear you're not actually trying to get the game working.

Sorry for the late reply, but I tried everything. I tried different wrappers, I cleaned every trace of quicktime and installed QT lite, I tried every single mentioned fix to repair the cutscenes circulating around the internet; nothing helps getting the cutscenes to run for me.

Interestingly, with my old disc version the cutscenes do run bit waaaay to slow (the old know problem). I'm still glad this release exists, though I'm a little disappointed the cutscenes issues couldn't be fixed for everyone. I tried this release on 3 of my machines. Interstingly, the only one on which the cutscenes work for me is my laptop with an old GeForce 600M.
I found a solution that works for me!
1. Install the game from GOG.
2. Install DirectX 11 renderer: moddb.com/mods/unreal-directx11-renderer-for-ut-ug-rune-and-dx/downloads/directx11-renderer-for-wotrune-hp12-c bu-and-ds9tf-version-162
3. Install Quicktime Fix. Simply copy the files to the "System" folder: community.pcgamingwiki.com/files/file/655-directdraw-patched-quicktime-4/
4. I still have the high-resolution textures installed. But this is not necessary to play. moddb.com/mods/the-wheel-of-time-esrgan-pack
5. The videos will be played in a smaller window at the top left and can be skipped with ESC.
I'm totally happy! :-)
I have 4k resolution and perfect brightness.
