Why decide to join Games in Development on GOG?

The Universim brings with it enough innovation to create somewhat of a new genre in the gaming
world. We don’t want to restrict your control over the game to a mere farm, town, or city, we want
you to control entire procedurally-generated planets, complete with wildlife and dynamic
environmental conditions. You will certainly spot some familiar mechanics in The Universim, adapted
from some of the best God games of all time, but it’s almost entirely designed from the ground up.
Some of the mechanics in the game will be introduced to you for the first time ever, and that is why
your feedback is absolutely crucial for us. We want to position ourselves as an indie studio that is
driven by your constructive feedback. We came here to make fun games, and to do that we need your
help and support. The Universim is our first game as a studio, and it’s very important for us to deliver
an excellent product.

Please keep in mind that we’re planning to add features and new mechanics along the way, which
means the game won’t be too packed with action and content from the very beginning. Overall, The
Universim is a slow-paced, creative game, where you will guide a species as it evolves from the Stone
Age all the way to Space Era and beyond.

Approximately how long will this game be in early access?

Until we’re happy with what we’ve got. We’re planning to be in ongoing development for as long as
we need to. Depending on the game’s success, we will also continue developing new features that the
community wants to see in the final release for absolutely no extra charge. However, we expect The
Universim to show its full potential within 12-18 months from now (some time in early 2018). Again,
that doesn’t mean you won’t be able to have a lot of fun in the game much sooner. We’re just making
sure you understand what to expect.

What do you plan to change during development?

The Universim will be dramatically different and far more polished closer to release. As we said
earlier, we will continue introducing new mechanics and developing new features as we go. New
features will either break the game or make it far more enjoyable. That’s where we will need your
feedback. Taking part in our Early Access puts you right beside us on this journey, and we have a long
way to go. If you’re the type of person who expects no bugs, glitches, or missing content in the game,
we highly recommend you to wait for proper reviews or the full version of the game to be completed.
We encourage you to invest some time into researching more about The Universim before purchasing
it. As much confidence as we have in The Universim, we want do our best to ensure you aren’t
disappointed with what you get.

What is the current state of your game?

We have spent a huge amount of time developing an in-game planet generation engine by the name
of Prometheus. We made it capable of generating procedural planets with dynamic life conditions onthem. At this time, we have a main planet with a certain generation scheme on which you’ll start
playing. We call it Mother Planet. This planet will make you feel right at home, as it’s based on the
planet you’re currently sitting upon. New features and mechanics will be added as we progress, along
with new eras and planets. Currently, your civilization begins with two citizens that can reproduce and
spread. We are restricting gameplay to the Stone Age to test all of the major systems before
additional eras are introduced. Later on, you’ll be able to help them evolve through different eras,
such as: the Medieval Era, Modern Age, and Space Era. Our team is working hard every day on new
features and bug fixes. As you read this message, we probably fixed a whole bunch of issues in the
game. Naturally, it can be quite difficult to describe the current state of The Universim, as it changes
all the time, but you can keep up to date by reading updates on all of our major channels. We just
want to assure you that we’re doing our best to implement new features as soon as we can, but we’re
not prioritizing time over quality.

Will the price change on release day?

This is still up for debate, as we want to ensure that the product’s final pricing will be fair based on the
functionality of the finished game. We still have many features that we’re discussing internally - things
that change the game drastically, and those features might take us a lot more time to develop. Some
things might change down the road. However, we will always do our best to keep the price as fair as
possible. Once more, we didn’t come here to make tons of profit, our aim is to acquire a large enough
budget to make The Universim the best planet-management god game ever and continue to amaze
you with our new games in the future.

How can the community participate in the development process?

Even though Crytivo Games is new name on the market, we are already known as a responsive and
supportive developer. The Universim is our product and the success of it is incredibly important to us.
And without you, we will not have success. We will do our best to communicate with you on GOG and
in our official forums to make sure you are as satisfied as possible. We want to be an indie studio you
can rely on, not one that came here to make tons of profit on sketchy DLC’s or in-game purchases.
We’re all about fun and innovation, and we want you to be a part of it.
Huge thank you for providing the FAQ :)
I would be interested in a release date or a email form over which we can get updates...

The release date is not yet known.

You can sign up to a newsletter on the game's official website - you'll get notifications every few weeks. Or you can check out news section for more frequent updates.
I just tried the demo. Now I want to know, will you patch the demo or leave it as is because "it's just a demo"?

I encountered into a couple of game-breaking bugs in my last 2 playthroughs.

-The huts keep saying it does not have water despite me putting down water pumps & wells.
-The engineer Nuggets does not repair any buildings & let them all collapses. That's how my 1st playthrough ends, actually: All the buildings collapses.
-The worst one of all, the Nuggets starve themselves to death. In my second playthrough, I put down 2 farms & they produce 20 foods each, but most Nuggets prefer to work despite the overhead icon saying they are starving. So by the time winter comes, 2/3rd of all the Nuggets died from starvation.

Some minor bugs.

-I don't understand why sometimes buildings can't be placed on a seemingly-suitable location. I end up spacing out all the buildings. I am not sure is this the reason why my Nuggets starved to death because they spend way too much time walking from their workplace to the eateries...
-When the wells are built, the water-opening-thingamagig does not seem to show up. So the well looks like some sort of magical wooden frames that produces water.

Fortunately enough, the game breaking bugs can be fixed by closing the game & start a new game. But I imagine how frustrating it must be if they exist in the finished product. The world looks big but it seems with how I need to space out the buildings, I feel like the world isn't big enough because most spaces will be considered unsuitable for building based on the current game system. Because there is only 1 age in the demo, I don't know if it will be a problem in the future, but I do feel like it would be.

I've tried the demo and I have some thoughts.

1. It is a bit unclear how the Nuggets gather food before they research agriculture. Do they hunt animals? There were none to be seen in the demo.

2. There are stats for Nuggets: Stamina and Might, but no Intelligence or anything that would describe Nugget's ability to work at something like school (I believe there will be some education institutions in the later eras). Will intelligence appear in the game?

3. The needs. Nuggets need for water, food and rest, but no entertainment - another typical aspect of most management strategies. Will entertainment appear as a need for our beloved little Nuggets?

4. Will there be an option to start several civilizations on one planet? There is so much room!

5. I see oil and gas among strategic resources. Will there be other materials like Uranium, coal, other metals aside from iron?

Of course, I totally realize this is but a demo and many further aspects of the game may develop over time.

UPD. As for the visuals - it is all highly astonishing already. I fell in love with cracking camera every time I hit a mountain :)

hi, i just downloaded this demo game as it looks like a fun and intresting game but when i click on start new game it goes to the loading screen and just keeps loading, i waited for like 15 minutes and then got over waiting so had to click ctrl alt del to end task, i did try again but still the same thing. does this happen to others? howlong do others have to wait?
was looking forward to this when i seen it whilst browsing even though its just a demo, looks good
Just tried out the demo. Quite a short demo but i found it very enjoyable. found a couple of tiny bugs.

1. again like some have said above not 100% sure with water well and pump placement, buildings still seemed to run out of water quickly, even if they were beside a pump and well.

2. Engineers would not fix the engineering hut, though they did seem to fix other buildings ok.

Quite pumped for this game now, will be picking it up upon release surely. good luck with the future development. i will be watching your progress closely.
I have not played the demo, so I'm just speaking in regards to my observation of the art style in screenshots.
Why do the bears look like bears but the humans(nuggets?) look like they do?
I will admit I'm picky about such things and the appearance of the characters(humans/nuggets?) not resembling a human/humanoid type of appearance will prevent me from picking this up when it releases. I know that seems petty, but it's my observation and opinion.

The nuggets seem so out of place with the rest of the environment art.
Would prefer humanoid characters with legs/arms/head attached to a torso. Just my observation, I mean no disrespect, because in the end you should pursue the art style you think is best.

Is Universim still coming to GOG? I'm signed up to your newsletter and whilst you talk about your own store and Steam all the time I do not recall any mention of GOG at all, ever. Seems a bit strange.

It is, but it might come here when it gets a full release, while earlier it would be available as Early Access on Steam only. Maybe we'll get it here as In Development game before release... But certailny later, if only, than Early Access on Steam though.

Well I would've bought it here ages ago already, gonna keep waiting until they release it here. Quite disappointing that their PR apparently is unaware of this forum.

Great news! They announced officialy, that game comes to GOG the same day it comes to Steam - Aug 28th! As In Development game ofc. That's a very nice surprise :-) Moreover, backers will get their In Development key for GOG, as promised :-)

What's more, Alex (game director) said on stream few days ago that full release will come in year and a half after launching Early Access - Q4 2019/Q1 2020 then. I wouldn't be attached to this promise though, as the development has taken much more time than they estimated during Kickstarter campaign.

Anyway, I can't wait for the game to come here!
Great news indeed, thanks for the info
I like this game.
