I'm playing this without the unoffical patch. I killed the guard that was freaking out by the staircase and got bad karma, after coming to the baseball field, unending slayers just jump out from the hole in ground. From walkthrough videos I've seen, more powerful monsters are eventually supposed to jump out but this never happens for me and I cant progress further because slayers just keep spawning. Haven't been able to find a noclip cheat or anything like that either. Should mentioned that the only save I have is after seeing the vision of the kids at the baseball field.
