Hiya,

Installed The Suffering on my win 10 laptop (integrated graphics) and it fires up fine and looks great, but I get no sound. Well, I get some sound. I get menu music but nothing in the game. I went into the menu settings and checked a box for "special effects audio" or something like that and now I hear that, but nothing else still. Just a background bang or whatever. No music, voice acting, nothing beyond a random creak or boom

I opened a thread some time ago, for the Freeware and Disc version of the game (that i owned). A forum member posted there link to a page for the Suffering, containing patches and fixes, mostly for the audio issues part. Those worked great for me back then.

I "think" it was this one, but i am not 100% certain...

Try there for starters and good luck. I still haven't purchased the GOG version, so i can't guarantee anything. Back then, though, for my copy of the game, this solved everything troubling me. You have to manually apply the solution it needs, right after identifying it properly, of course... Mine had been the "missing sound effects".
I only picked up this game yesterday and I am getting the odd strange hi-speed dialogue from the prison guards at the start. I am unfamiliar with this game so hard to know whats normal and what isnt. Having said that, this game isnt normal lol. Great game though and glad I picked it up.

Thank you for that! I'll look into it!

This game is old and it had trouble and problems, even back in the day, even on strong machines over the recommended requirements. Try that page too, to see if you can fix it manually.

Don't mention it! I hope you can fix your game with this.

All this said and done, i still can't believe GOG didn't fix it thoroughly themselves, from the get go...

Many thanks. It does seem an intermittent issue. Sometimes there's no issues. Other times it crashes. I realise it's an old game. Though, If it wasn't for dosbox we would't have half the games we do on this site.
