Has anyone got this game running on Linux ?

I can't seem to get it working, I've tried various versions of wine/proton including proton experimental with no luck.

My system specs are :

Ryzen 5 2600
RTX 3060 ti
16 GB DDR4
2 TB SSD
Linux Mint Vanessa

The game works just fine when I play it on Win 7 but I'd really like to get it working on Linux if I can.

When I hit new game all I get is a black screen, I'm guessing ths is an issue with playing the cut scenes.

Also when I first launch the game on Win 7 I get a splash screen animation with the Frogwares logo, I don't get this on Linux it just goes straight to the GOG logo, I'm guessing this is caused by the same issue that's preventing the game from starting.

any help with this issue would be greatly appreciated.

I've made some progress, I was able to play the game by loading a save from Win 7 so it definitely seems to be an issue with the cut scenes.

If anyone has a fix for this it'd be great as I suspect this won't be the last time I encounter this issue.
Installing didn't work right by testing in /tmp, but installing to an SSD with sufficient space worked correctly.

Before the first run, installed DXVK 2.3 then the game came up and seemed to run fine but I haven't tried the game for more than a minute or so.

System: Mageia 9.
Card AMD RX 6400
Mesa 2.3.3
Kernel 6.6.10
Wine 9.0.

So my system in pretty up to date, I'll post more after some game play.
steam deck having same issue. protondb says to use proton experimental but no luck
ProtonDB lists it with Gold status. Also on Steam it's Steam it's "Steam Deck verified". So I guess it should be working great.

I'll buy it on GOG and hope I can play it on the Steam Deck.
Will post an update later.
I've found a work around for this issue, it's not a fix but it will allow you to play the game.

Go to the folder where you have the game installed and go to the following directory : TSCGame/Content/Movies/Win64 and rename the files contained inside, or if you'd rather you can also either delete them or move them to another folder, it'll have the same effect .

Now the game will just skip the cut scenes allowing you to continue playing.

If you really want to watch the cut scenes you can always play them in VLC or something.

It seems to be working perfectly for me so far on Debian Bookworm, though I haven't played very long yet. Cut scenes play and the game runs smoothly.

I'm using Lutris (v0.5.14 backported from Debian testing) with the GloriousEggroll wine-ge-custom package (release Wine-GE-Proton8-25).

I'd include a link to the GE release, but I am apparently not allowed to post links. You can find the repo on github.
As for the Steamdeck - the GOG version of "The Sinking City" works in Lutris (with cut scenes) without needing to set anything.
I was not able to make it work in the Heroic Launcher (because of cut scenes), despite trying several different Proton versions (I am not a Linux guru, so maybe it is possible, I cannot exclude it).

This confirms my past experience with other games on SteamDeck (like ignored keys in Might and Magic RPGs, making them unplayable) that Lutris is definitely more compatible (again - maybe it is just about some presets which are different in Lutris than in Heroic - I do not know).

Ah mystery solved then, it seems like Heroic might be the culprit, it's what I've been using to launch the game.

I'll have to give Lutris a try.

The game also seems to work well when running it with Bottles, it would seem that it's only Heroic that is having issues.

For me, the game won't play cut scenes if I am playing via Heroic Launcher. (or adding to steam via heroic, the launch string it creates uses heroic much like a wrapper, it launches heroic using the no_gui option and then launches the game from heroic)

But if I install the game via heroic (for convenience sake) and then add the game to steam manually (adding the exe) and setting compatibility to pretty much any proton from 7.0 onward, it seems to work fine.

I tried to report the issue to Heroic's Discord but they were more interested in pointing fingers at the user than listening to the explanation that removing Heroic from the equation solved the problem. I don't think it will get fixed any time soon.
