I just downloaded "Settlers 2 - 10th Anniversary Edition" and fired it up. On my native screen resolution of 1920x1200 I get an FPS of around 5-15 which is ridiculously low for obvious reasons.

My spec: i7-950, amd 6970, 4gb ram, win7 ultimate, 27" dell ultrasharp

Having read some other threads, the resolution was an option under settings - so I didnt have to hack or otherwise edit any setup files.

Any ideas how to increase the FPS?

Thanks for helping

Edit : I saw a vid about editing DosBox settings. Is that a feasible solution. Is DosBox even editable when packaged into the GOG.com bundle?

This question / problem has been solved by DarkjeThe2ndimage
try an older amd driver, there have been posts it's not fluid with the current ones.

s2-10th is a directx game, so no dosbox used.

edit: just tested fps on my rig, and even at very high IQ settings it's around 175fps (2560x1440, 16xaniso, 4xAA, MStranspAA, HighQ, vsync=off) on a single GTX660Ti-2g, so yeah your rig should do way better too.

Thanks for the reply Darkje.

Are you suggesting that everytime I want to load S2-10th I reload the AMD Driver? And then I'd have to reload the up-to-date ones for all the other games / apps I usually play?

I will search for the other threads mentioned and see what is said there.

Tks.

i tried pushing the drivers back and it screwed some other settings up, but it did speed up settlers. so i decided to go back to the original (newest) driver and take settlers on super slow-mo. its not so bad.

but darkje still solved the problem - so thanks for that.
I guess it would be good to report this to AMD, if you feel like it.: http://www.amdsurveys.com/se.ashx?s=5A1E27D20B2F3EBB

maybe they will fix it again...
Hi! I too have problems with low frames during game, it's unplayable... I have Win7 64, Radeon HD6950, and I tried installing lowest drivers (11.1) then I went up (12.1) and nothing... switching graphics parametar from low to high, nothing... Also, i reported this to AMD and still nothing...

Please, does anyone have solution?!
