Is the mission disc "The New World" (Die Neue Welt) compatible with the gog version of the game? I'm curious, cuz I'm missing out on quite some S4 stuff including this, so I'd either be off buying everything retail or buy the Gold version on here and only be on the lookout for a used copy of The New World.

I posted something similar on my blog... English and german version ARE somewhat compatible with each other(depending on the disc and the icon you use to start the game)...
You CAN play DNW with an english Gold Edition... The mission descriptions will be on german, but seeing that you are german, there shouldn't be a problem with that.

The GOG version should, however, be also compatible with DNW.

(Right now, I've installed both my German Gold Edition Plus, the Community Pack and the GOG version at the same time on my laptop, and they work fine. If you don't tweak, they don't even interfere with each other... But that means that I can't install only Die Neue Welt, so I cannot say for sure. Sorry there! :( )

To play "Die Neue Welt"with the GOG version, do the following:

Install Settlers 4 with "Die Neue Welt" addon, or "Settlers 4 Gold Edition" in German.
Install GOG Settlers 4 Gold Edition.

In the following steps, do not overwrite any files!
Go to the CD of German Gold Edition or Neue Welt addon of Settlers 4. Copy the Campaign folder into the GOG Settlers 4 folder.
Go to your installation folder of the German Gold Edition. Copy everything the GOG Settlers 4 folder.
Again, choose "yes" if you are asked if you want to copy sub-folders, but "skip" when you are asked if you want to overwrite files.

Now start your GOG installation and you should have the new button for the addon. Note: The mission descriptions are in German.

The Community Pack addon is not included with either Gold version and must be installed separately. So install it onto your German version and repeat the steps for it then (copying campaign folder from CD and the folders from the Gold Edition). Make sure to copy the campaign folder from both DNW/Gold Edition and MCD3 (Community Pack) CD, don't forget either!

How you see the installations worked:
DNW: Starting the game has a new button "Die Neue Welt" in the main menu.
MCD3: Starting the game has a new button "Große Feldzüge" in the main menu.
